One of my passions is creating economical improvements for equipment. Preventive efforts here can save a lot of time and money before something expensive breaks - and can also generate a more pleasant experience between tool & operator with higher quality results.
This piece of railway measurement equipment wasn't designed for the mileage we accumulated over the years, mainly due to how often we were assembling/breaking it down between work sites. I added some stainless steel time-serts to stripped holes and made custom tightening knobs that were held captive for easy assembly without hand tools.
Improved wheels for equipment transportation with easier access for replacement
Cable end caps to protect against contaminants in dirty work environments
Dust covers for equipment and improvised case handle hardware
