I always wanted to learn more about diesel engines, so I found a non-running, 4-speed 1970 240D and got to work during my Florida days. After lots of blood, sweat, weekends, and tears, it runs like a top and completed a 10hr road trip with no issues! It's since been sold to a fellow Benz enthusiast and is enjoying its revival, cruising through the Smoky Mountains at 50mph.

Replacement of rubberized mounts for transmission, differential, and motor - all custom-reinforced with 30 shore hardness urethane to maximize longevity
Full disc brake replacement; front and rear axles
Complete air-conditioning overhaul; works great in the Florida summers! Flushed system, new drier, compressor, expansion valve and various hoses. Involved creative use of ratchet straps & hydraulic jack to re-install the very heavy compressor under the car
Front driver-side hub replacement (stripped threads from previous owner)
Restomod sound system overhaul, including custom rear deck and carpeting, Pioneer speakers & head unit, and modest subwoofer installation
Restomod for electronics, featuring charging hub in glove box
Diesel injector rebuild with Monark-brand nozzles, including new fuel lines
Complete restoration of mechanical throttle linkage systemÂ

It was time for a Benz that friends & family could drive and not worry about shifting. Drove this one back to Indianapolis from Colorado Springs!
